Reflections Exhibition

The Reflection Exhibition was a group show of artist from around the world, all the artworks created were the individual artist response to the them and none of the artwork had been viewed by the other included in the experience prior to installation day.

This unique approach resulted in a vast array of conceptual works and mediums.

My contribution to the exhibition were two textile pieces ‘Misconceptions, 2021 - 2023’ and ‘Nurture’.

‘Misconceptions’ seeks to provide a platform to discuss female infertility, the tolls it takes within a relationship, the stress and the emotional toll the often arduous journey to parenthood takes on the mother in particular. The egg shaped elements of this artwork are representational of the female egg and of the months upon months of trying to conceive.

After many medical appointments, invasive tests and medical interventions I was blessed to fall pregnant and carry my now two wonderful boys, although I acknowledge this 'success' is not always the case. Two of the egg shaped forms feature several details that vary from the rest, these represent the two months I was fortunate enough to conceive my sons Caspian and Marius.

I acknowledge that many do not have the result they are seeking and I feel very deeply for you, this piece is for you.
