Lapis Lazuli

$390.00

This textile artwork was inspired by the jewel toned gemstones found within Egyptian artwork. The vivid, rich purples and royal blues.

I have had a lifelong fascination with ancient Egyptian and am particularly drawn to the jewellery created by the ancient Egyptian crafts people. This quilt is created using another ancient technique called wet felting and is heavily embellished with needle felting beading and hand embroidery and quilting.

The repeating motif of the scallop is a form that I was drawn to when viewing the Tutankhamun exhibition several years ago that visited Melbourne.
